Can’t complain, but,…. by Michael Lieber
I have been slow cooking for years using internet recipe sources such as allrecipes, epicurious, etc. They have excellent, rated recipes. I rarely use the cookbooks I have. In a weak moment, I went for this book. It is fairly good, but I don’t think it adds anything to what is online. When will I learn?

The “not your mother’s” part of this book is that all the recipes involve some kind of weird liquor that you probably don’t have in the house. Other than that, the recipes are fairly bland.

I am constantly using this cook book - there are many great recipes, not of them have bee a disappointment.
There are two great corn beef recipes, good recipes for pork butt and roasts, great vegetarian soup recipes, and the best recipe for posole that I’ve ever found.
As other reviewers have noted, the book is also an excellent resource for crock pot cooking.
I have recently become a vegetarian, but I still use this book to cook recipes for my boyfriend. The Southern Barbecued Pork on a Bun recipe is one of his favorites - I bet he could eat it every day.
